Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
