19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with former mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's maiden title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after March of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on court had led some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the final five points to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet defended four early break points in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned the win with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
